Iberia Parish Clerk of Court’s site centralizes a wide range of public services—birth/death certificates, passports, marriage licenses, e-filing, dockets, and record requests—and must make those services discoverable and reliable for residents and legal professionals. Design the site around the tasks people need to complete and give staff straightforward tools to maintain time-sensitive legal content.

Challenge:
Clerk sites carry complex, legally required information plus time-sensitive items (dockets, fee schedules). Users need step-by-step clarity; staff need a CMS that prevents publishing bottlenecks.

Approach:
We used a service-design process: map the top user journeys, then create modular templates and CMS components that let staff publish authoritative content quickly and keep transactional flows frictionless.

  • Built service pages with step-by-step instructions, fee tables, downloadable forms, and clearly labeled next steps for the highest-traffic tasks.  
  • Implemented responsive, mobile-first templates and validated form flows across device types to reduce abandonment.
  • Created a CMS workflow empowering staff to post docket updates, emergency notices, and fee changes without developer support.

  • Built clear record and docket search interfaces with predictable filters and result behavior so attorneys and citizens find items quickly.  
  • Optimized common form flows (record requests, e-filing starts) to reduce errors and incomplete submissions.
  • Created admin hooks so staff can publish docket and notice updates promptly, preserving the timeliness of court communications.
